The GAP Engineering Congress is held biannually by Engineering Faculty, Harran University, Turkey. GAP is short for Southeastern Anatolia Project, which is one of the largest engineering projects throughout the world in terms of the magnitude of energy production and irrigation seeking to utilize the rich land and water resources of the region based on the concept of sustainable development. The main object of the congress is to provide a forum to exchange information, to present high-quality research results and new developments in the wide domain covered by all engineering disciplines. While the first three congresses (in 1996, 1998 and 2000) were held at the national level, the 4th Congress (in 2002) was held with international participation successfully. The 5th GAP Engineering Congress is planned to extend its status to an international level as well as the previous one and will thus be a multidisciplinary forum for researchers, scientists, engineers and practitioners from all over the world. |
