Objective of the Course |
Providing
the ability needed for machine design, forming important machine elements
constitute the machines, teaching the strength of machine elements and their
functions. Several projects related to these subjects are given through this
course. |
Course Contents |
Design of couplings, clutches and brakes. Friction,
wear and lubrication; their types, systems of lubrication. Criteria for the
selection of bearing type. Design of sliding bearings, journal and thrust
bearings. Power transmission, prime mover characteristics and types. Design
of friction drives and classification. Design of gear drives, classification,
spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, worm gears and special gears. Design
of belt drives; flat belts, V-belts. Design of chain drives and rope drives. |
