Objective of the Course

:  This course aim to teach basic strength concepts and to show the application of these techniques to various engineering problems.

Course Contents

: Stress and srain in three axis; normal stress, Mohr circle, balance equations, stress - strain relevance. Colons theory; thick colons, croos-section kernel, thin colons, buckling of thin colons, strain energy; fracture and stress theory, strain theory. Work methods; torsion; shear force theory, Maxwell and Betti theories, Castigliano theory.  Stability of columns. Euler's formulas.
