Objective of the Course

Gaining basics concepts about motor vehicles, vehicle dynamics, and vehicle performance.

Course Contents

General design of motor vehicles. Forces acting on a motor vehicle (resistance forces and traction force) . Traction characteristics of a motor vehicle. Engine characteristics and gear ratios. Equation of motion of a motor vehicle and its graphical, analytical, and numerical solution methods. Fuel consumption of a motor vehicle. Effects of design and operating factors on fuel economy of a motor vehicle.
