  • A prominent expert on Geotechnical Engineering design and application
  • The author of many well-known scientific publications in this field
  • Developed many novel perceptions in the Foundation Engineering design and application such as the new analytical formulae for the immediate settlement analysis for eccentrically loaded foundations and the soil average vertical stress increment induced by both uniform and linearly varying foundation pressures called upon the consolidation settlement calculations etc.
  • Developed a method for analysing the Jet-grouted Raft Foundations
  • Developed a method for analysing the settlement of Rammed Aggregate Pier Group Foundations
  • Introduced a novel 3D finite element modelling method to the geotechnical practice for the spatial data based modelling using Volumetric Image Processing technique
  • By using this robust technique introduced to the literature many complex geotechnical design problems can now be analysed in detail allowing more rational geotechnical design
  • An expert on the multi objective optimisation analysis such as Response Surface Method that was introduced to the geotechnical engineering practice for the economical design of foundations
  • Conducted many scientific research projects as well as many structural projects as a project manager
  • Represented Turkish Geotechnical Community in Eurocode 7 Geotechnical Design Meetings in Brussel in 2012-2014
  • Pioneered and executed in 2015 the internationally accredited civil engineering undergraduate program first time in the region in Harran University, Şanlıurfa by means of conveying the teaching and learning higher educational cognition and experience acquired through doctoral, post-doctoral and lecturing positions undertaken in the UK during the period of 1993-2001

  • Undertaken the postgraduate civil engineering modules of Critical State Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, Design of Industrial Foundations, Foundation Design I & II, Piles and Pile Foundations in Engineering Practice, Tunneling Induced Deformation Risks to Adjacent Structures, Principles of Ground Improvement, Theory and Practice of Deep Excavation
  • Currently taking charge of Director of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences
  • Served as Head of Civil Engineering Department that has received the international accreditation (EUR-ACE, Washington Accord) under my supervision

  • In addition to the geotechnical modules above I have also undertaken the BSc modules of Road Design I & II, Earthworks, Tunnel and Infrastructure. I have also served as Head of Civil Engineering Department from time to time.

  • In addition to my lecturing duty in the civil engineering department I have also served as Head of Construction and Technical Management Office that has 50 technical staff. During this period I have completed the bidding and construction processes of many buildings such as the hospital, the library, the shopping centre, the techno-park, the college buildings etc.

  • I have worked for this local firm for a year and undertaken the construction and consulting duties for various projects

  • I have undertaken the modules of Structural Analysis and Properties of Engineering Materials. Additionally, during 1998 and 1999, I have undertaken and completed three research projects titled as “Analysis of Masonry Wall Fixings Using Finite Element Analysis”, “Visual Grading and Bending Test of 500 Machine and Manually Graded Scaffold Boards” and “Experimental Investigation of Masonry Wall Fixings Subjected to Pull-out Load and Torque” for Health and Safety Executive Technology Division, UK.

  • I have assisted the modules of Soil Mechanics and attended the MSc course in Cukurova University, Adana, Turkey

  • I have worked as a site engineer in GAP Sanliurfa Irrigation Tunnel Project (Approach II) for a year.

The title of the PhD thesis is “The Behaviour of Flexibly Bedded Concrete Paver Pavements”

This was a 1 year compulsory course to attend for new lecturers, in this course I enhanced my awareness and teaching knowledge in higher education.
